A Moment of Silence

Yesterday was big…..after 60+ days together, I finally ran out of my Serum C+ Infusion by Kerstin Florian. Let’s bow our heads and observe a moment of silence….. I can’t say for sure it’s the reason my skin hasn’t seen any serious wrinkling or is without blemish but, I can say that after using almost everyday religiously, I am scared to see what will happen/change. I have several other beauty products I put on my face daily include Josie Maran

Style Tip: Hair

It’s a funny thing but, hair that is polished and “in order” creates the perception of an organized mind….so crazy, outta control hair creates the perception of – (you finish the thought)!

Preparing for Paris

It’s been almost two years since I’ve been to the “City of Lights” but, I think of it often not only because as a stylist, it’s the holy grail but because the energy of city and its inhabitants is infectious! Here’s a style secret: when you travel, a lot of what you wear is determined by the outerwear…. in this case, I’ll be rocking the Zara zipped camouflage jacket because it has sparklies on either breast pocket; the fit is perfect

“White eyeliner is an absolutely essential tool that every makeup artist has in their kit.” – Alphonse Wiebelt {Professional Makeup Artist & Educator} The Brow Lift: Glide liner under brow. Use smudger to blend downwards, creating a visual eye-lift and defining the brow. A Real Eye-Opener: Glide along top lash line and smudge out over the eyelid making the eye look larger and the lashes longer, fuller and more dramatic. The Power Nap: Glide along lower wet line (a.k.a. inner

All The {Nail} Colors of Fall 2012

This last year I’ve gone a bit ‘off script’ with my nail colors ~ I mean I’ve done purples, yellows, pinks. Yesterday, I decided it was time to get back to basics but then I took note of all the color for fall and though I might wait a minute….or two. While I’ll never go metallic or glitter, I do love the rich deep tones of purple, navy {my new favorite color!}, and green. Which fall colors are your favorites?

Do You Know Your Nail Polishes?

I found this cute pop quiz on Racked and thought it would be fun to try. Are you a nail polish buff? Which are your favorites? Well, take a look at the shapes and see if you can figure out which nail polish shape belongs to which brand. We’ll post the answers tomorrow! I took it and guessed 10/12 correctly – woohoo!!

Hair Color – What Does Yours Says?

L’Oreal Paris recently used Facebook to conduct its 2012 Hair Color Census and the results are in. Here is the infographic that shows some very interesting (and fun) facts. Me? I love my natural color {which has more than a touch of grey these days} but I’m quick to admit that I’m heading to the salon in the next month or two to “wash that grey right outta my hair” and get my signature warm brown with honey highlights back!

ELF & My Everyday Beauty Regimen

Across the last 30 days, I’ve been working hard on my #BodyReboot and as a part of that, I’ve been doing some revamping of my beauty regimen as well. Now before I go any further, know this ~ I am not a beauty junky actually quite the opposite. I’m in love with style and fashion, and deathly afraid of beauty products and makeup. I typically utilize the services and expertise of All About The Pretty to make any decision. But I’m

Optical Illusions

One of my new favorite online magazines is Net-a-Porter‘s ~ it gives great tidbits and snippets from culture to fashion to beauty to trends…all with a stylish focus, and always give you something to salivate over until the next issue. The July 25th magazine featured Kristie Streicher, the US celebrity-eyebrow queen. Given her penchant for the eyebrows and those beauty things ocular, she provided some great insights on how to blend this season’s optical trends with your makeup. This is,

Body Reboot – Week 3

Week three is in the rear view for Julia and I. As I mentioned earlier this week, I’m feeling it all over – tighter (yes!), better breathing (yes!), better jumprope performance (yes!) but more sore (yes!). We’ve rounding out day 21 and we’re still going strong with 45-minute Rides at 6AM, 1-hour Barre classes at 6:45PM, and even 1-hour weekend tabata Rides at 8AM. Highlights from last week (Sun-Sat): 11 classes in total (7 Ride, 4 Barre) A weekend with

To Better “Watch” My Progress

Julia and I are two full weeks into our 30 Day #BodyReboot and, I’m not sure about her, but I’m feeling it. My body is feeling “tighter” but moving up and down the stairs isn’t so easy anymore. I’ve been keeping up with my 2-3 minutes of jump rope everyday (except one day I forgot because I was out of town) and now I’ve started running. In all fairness, I was running before but went cold turkey after the last

Week 2 – #BodyReboot

Julia and I are closing out week two and we’re starting to see some progress & feel less movement! Biker Barre is helping Julia and I stay true to our goal of rebooting our body and fitness routine. This week we did 10 classes (6 Ride, 4 Barre) and next week promises much of the same (8 classes in total) except…..I am out of town for two days. the plan is to do a double on Monday, pack my jumprope and

Body Reboot – Week 1

I’m here – and that’s a start. And so is Julia! We survived the first week of seven classes across six days (four riding, three barre) at Biker Barre. I’m in love with Biker Barre ~ it’s not only the actual location which is clean and chic, but its the instructors who are ALL rock stars (Stephen – the “Ballet Czar” Barre; Katie – the dancing Ride monster; Gabriela – just a Ride BEAST; and Erin – the sweet-as-pie, Barre

30-Day Fitness Frenzy

I admit it – my body isn’t what it used to be. Not that I was ever in competition for Ms. America or “Video Girl of the Year”, but things were tighter back then. Somewhere amidst the transition from corporate tether to on-my-grustle-24-7, I fell off the healthy living bandwagon. And now I’m making my ‘last stand’…..everything you read regarding health, healthy living, fitness, getting in shape, etc tells you that it’s easier to “maintain” than to “get in shape”.

SPF, Broad Spectrum, Sunscreen, etc

Last week the FDA announced new rules for sunscreen labels that will go into effect within a year. The FDA crackdown will bring a far less complicated labeling system to the shelves, and we can all rest a little easier knowing exactly which sunscreen we should be putting on. The top four things you should know before restocking your summer 2012 sunscreen stash: Broad spectrum:  in order for a sunscreen to claim that it is broad spectrum, it must “provide protection against both ultraviolet B radiation (UVB) and ultraviolet

“It’s Not My Color…”

I can’t tell you how many times I hear that phrase…for women and men. The thing is with Pantone creating hundreds of colors every year, there has to be the perfect red for you, or the most illuminating yellow. I threw on this gorgeous sleeveless peplum top that was olive and orange {I thought the olive-tone could work with my neutrals and the orange would give it a bit of zest} ~ the price was right at $31, the fit

Go BIG With Bright Lips!

For winter, we wore dark, berry tones on our lips but it’s summer and everything we’re seeing and reading says go BRIGHT! Can we do it? Yes we can! Or lips in sheer peach shades with a light bronze pearl to warm up skin tones Medium-toned?…  Stick with orange tones and warm coral for those with golden, deep or bronzed skin tones Dark-skinned?… Go with vibrant hues and coordinating lip

Oops Excuse Me, My Vanity Is Showing

I’m not a beauty girl ~ my regiment is simple on any given morning and takes less than 10 minutes of my time {a mere sliver in time compared to some fashion girls}. But when I saw that Monica Bellucci, in conjunction with Dolce & Gabbana, was creating six new shades of their lipstick all aptly named Monica, I said, “Juju I have to have them!” I’m still waiting with baited breath to see if they make it to my
