The Convergence of Technology & Fashion

I call it stylish tech, but it is truly about how two disparate enterprises have collided, converged, and coalesced into something fabulous that has meant positives pushes forward for all!

Until recently, the concept of stylish technology was limited to one brand but the surge of quick-n-fast technology solutions has finally pulled fashion into its whirlwind {it’s not curing world hungry but alas since we don’t walk around naked, we all need it somewhat}.

What’s the first thing you think of when you hear “technology”? The newest smartphone? Some social media app? A big room with lots of computers churning?

The first thing that comes to mind for me is a person — wired up with a tablet and latest phone but I go beyond that. The underlying assumption in that image is an individual who is “tech savvy” thus in tune with the latest news and happenings and, frankly, super fashionable. I don’t know why….maybe it’s because I’m a stylist?

Either way, as I assess which came first [the chicken or the egg], it is clear that technology and fashion have entered into a mutually beneficial relationship that is aptly benefiting the fashion-forward. From street style photos posted (and circulated around the world in minutes) to Zara’s ability to create an entire new line within 30 days based on what they see and hear to be on-trend to my penchant for seeing something online and the quickly translating that into a look, a post and a possible article, technology has made fashion pervasive, accessible, collaborative, and all about IG (instant gratification).

Recently, HP took this fashion and technology collaboration real-time: fueled by fashion, HP is doing the HP Ultrabook Bag Contest. You design a bag for the HP Ultrabook and the winner, chosen by Jill of Inhabit.com and the writers at Core 77win $10,000! I’m fashionable and consider myself to be in the tech-know, but I didn’t enter however you can still vote for your favorite design.

Which design is best?!

This post is sponsored by the sleek, stylish, lightweight HP Spectre XT Ultrabook™, inspired by Intel. Vote for your favorite bag design!
