U by Kotex Protects, Sponsored

This is a sponsored post for U by Kotex through The bLink Marketing Network. U by Kotex provided me products to review. You can get a free sample from U by Kotex too at www.ubykotex.com/get-a-sample and Do the Demo. All opinions shared are my own. Pampadour Party

Pampadour is this super cool site that is for beauty enthusiasts and while I’m much more of a style enthusiast, beauty runs in the same circle! Pampadour asked me if I’d celebrate the release of my style book, Without Saying A Word, by hosting a Pamp Party to talk about all of my fun skincare secrets (from page 90 of my book), and I said, “Yes!”. Join me online February 12 to ask all of your beauty questions focused on

Don’t Let Fashion Ruin Your Holiday (or Your Health)!

Fabulous infographic that shows how fashion can go so wrong! We make choices everyday about what to wear perhaps we can consider how it affects our health. I’m not suggesting that you go without makeup and wear only orthopedics but, occasional edits to your habits can be helpful. And knowing is half the battle…. Perhaps I can pare down my oversized satchel!

So, it’s time to pull out some type of facial assistance that will allow me to retain my glow. The answer is Prescriptives custom blend foundation. I had mine done a little while ago and now I’m ready to use it ~ plus it has radiance

Girls Night In: Out, Conversation & Polish

Girls Night In is a fun tradition that I share with my g’friends and while life has been somewhat hectic lately, we managed to sneak one in this past Saturday compliments of Sally Hansen! The weather was perfect ~ that matters because we started outside at the firepit with an Argentinian Malbec. We got in great conversation mostly about summer travel plans and a fall girls weekend that needed to happen {I can’t promise pictures from that…} After relaxing a bit

Don’t Be Fooled By Beauty Myths

It’s simple ~ we hear lots of information on any given day but some of the stuff we hear about beauty (not to mention other topics) aren’t necessarily ‘words to live by’. In honor of April Fool’s Day, we thought we’d share some this cool infographic with insights from Aussie Celebrity Stylist Sarah Potempa, Celebrity Makeup Artist Amy Nadine, Clairol Principal Scientist Lesley Bride, Secret Senior Scientist Dr. Susan Biehle-Hulette, Olay Principal Scientist Mary Johnson and COVERGIRL Principal Scientist Dr. Sarah

Using Chella To Mask My Age

Well not mask my age but to help ensure I’m aging gracefully….the Chella Resurfacing Enzyme & Lactic Acid Mask is the truth! Get A Step A-Head

I am committed to running [more] regularly but, as is the conundrum with many black women, my hair sometimes gets in the way. I mean to say — sometimes I wanna run but I know that the effects on my hair are almost assured of being devastating! Running with a cap in winter or in 90% humidity in summer is the same thing — a nest that never regains its former glory…. [enter stage left] Oribe texturizing spray, it’s like

A Firm (But Soft) Nonverbal “Hello”

As a stylist, I would tell you that your first “hello” to anyone that meets you is done with your image {and that would be true}. In addition to that non-consentual, nonverbal interaction, you have the handshake. Since I hit my early 30s, I’ve been battling [with some success] dry hands and, as part of that, overall smoothness. Problem: unwelcoming hands Solution: seed Therapeutic Hand Scrub Result: that’s up to you….and you’re smile, your look, and your conversation….but the hand

Weekend DIY: Shaving Cream [VIDEO]

I’m not a ‘slave to the shave‘….in fact, I’m a waxer but there are the times when my favorite spot {Polished} can’t fit me in or when you did a quick getaway to the sun but forgot to handle all the little to-do’s. Problem solved: DIY shaving cream (and it works wonderfully)!

Beauty Unmasked: The Best Mascaras of 2012 [SLIDESHOW]

Long, lush, thick lashes make your eyes pop and your face sing. Ladies want them. Men have them. And we’ll usually go through great lengths to make sure we’re not seen without them (I do!). Although I am a constant wearer of Evalash lash extensions, I am occasionally (read: rarely) caught without them in which case I need major assistance. With the help of Harper’s Bazaar, I’m sharing the best mascaras of 2012 that I’ve used and can attest to!

Jump Start 2013 Be-You-Tifully

I’ve been ‘gathering intel’ and putting together the most comprehensive must-have list to jump start 2013 be-you-tifully. It’s involved personal experience and the intel of many a wise beauty folk including the lovely Julia Coney. Here’s the skinny: Dream water ($15, 4-pack) ~ your body requires rest to rejuvenate and wonky sleep patterns and sporadic sleep won’t get you what you need. Dream Water uses natural ingredients and it works (I tried it and slept like a baby!) Crest whitestrips ($41) ~whiter

Paris Beauty Secret: Orlane

As part of my recent #ParisBeauty12 trip, several of us received a traditional Parisian facial at Orlane Paris. Simply fabulous! The hour long experience was most enjoyable and, as with a typical Parisian facial, there were no extractions. Rather they performed this “electrostatic thing” that was supposed to seal in everything. Something different? Once my facial was complete, they applied makeup to finish my look! And then they gave me Repairing Night Cream Absolute Skin Recovery ($300) which I have used
