I'm always at-the-ready when it comes to travel. While my girlfriend, Julia, manages to pack do-da's for every possible situation including impromptu blogger meetups, there is one thing I haven't seen her pull out but that has become my constant companion, the steamer. My best friend Deb bought me my very first one...and I still have it.
I don't like to iron and, in fact, I'm sure I would end up doing my harm than good if I used it however, the steamer is up to the task of any fabric including the ever-fickle silk. I now carry it on every photoshoot, every personal weekend jaunt, and every business trip I go on whether winter or summer.
Bonus: not to mention, the steam works well to freshen up your items too (especially if you use a scented water like I do)!
This 3-in-1 at Sharper Image ($49) is cool, and I'm a fan of this Conair ($34) one which packs a punch.
