- Diane was born Diane Simone Michelle Halfin on December 31, 1946 in Brussels, Belgium
- Her original pathway had her studying economics at the University of Geneva, Switzerland
- Diane started designing her [infamous] knit wrap dresses in 1973
- She was determined from the beginning: “The minute I knew I was about to be Egon’s wife, I decided to have a career. I wanted to be someone of my own, and not just a plain little girl who got married beyond her desserts.“
- By 1976, she had sold 5 million dresses!!
- As of 1993, DVF becomes a contributing editor to Vanity Fair magazine
- She’s doing it all; her other product lines include — cosmetics, fragrances (Tatiana..after her youngest daughter), home, handbags, shoes and even a coffee table book
- In 1998, Diane published her personal & business memoir DIANE (an excellent read!)
- In 1999, DVF elected to the board of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and named to the board of USA Networks Inc.
- She has quietly and gracefully taken the design world by storm…and blown up the definition of a wrap-dress
- Trademarks: the wrap along with graphic floral prints, cinch-waist skirt suits, and forties glamour by way of seventies hippie chick
