Sexy, Sleek, Stylish Dell

I went to Dell Spring Media Launch last week in NYC. They had four areas of focus: work (Vostro), play (Alienware, gamers nirvana), create (XPS, my personal fave), and inspire (Inspiron). I grew up on PCs and until now, they were the apparatus that equated to a corporate tether ~ not sexy, just necessary. Dell showed me something completely different. The XPS is sleek, fully functional, and makes a real statement about style (read: I have some!). As a stylist and blogger, I am on-the-go, and the Gorilla Glass display (yes, I do have occasional missteps), 8-second boot up time (quick notes), and the ultra thin and light design (18mm at its widest and less than 3 lbs) mean I can go head-to-head with anyone. spring media launch_0517_5 I’ll be working with Microsoft to kick off a four-part series focused on how style collides with technology and my new XPS will undoubtedly be all the rage!

  1. I am in the market for a new laptop and I must say you are right on time with information.
After reading your blog, I did a little research and I must sya Dell has stepped uo there game BIG time!

The reality is that most laptops have comparable baseline ‘utility’ features but what sets the winners apart is the “design” features. All that said the XPS is a front runner on my list right now. It’s sexy and sleek and as a entrepreneur it’s practical at the same time.

    Is Dell making a comeback?!

  2. How timely this blog post is!  I’m in the market for a new laptop (passing my old one off to my 10-year old) and I’ve been checking out the XPS.  I like the styles and have always been a “Dell Girl”.

  3. Seems like a terrific machine.  Can’t wait to learn more.  I’m always on the look out for great, new, stylish technology options.  Thanks for sharing.

  4. I have a desk top and I need a something powerful and mobile.  The XPS just might do the trick. I’ll check it out for serious consideration.  Thanks!!

  5. You are so cutting edge.  Always in the know and stylish too.  Not much more to say.  I’ll follow the leader… you.  Where to buy?

  6. I need a new laptop and having it boot quickly is a must. Productivity is lost waiting 5 minutes for everything to load. The XPS is on my radar. Thanks.

  7. I use Dell for my work laptop (which means its also my personal laptop) and have always loved it for the lightweight design….when its time to upgrade, i’ll look into one of these snazzy new ones!

  8. Good morning. The Dell XPS would be a perfect fit in my flight bag. Being an airline pilot Im always looking for light wieght and fast start up time. And I love the look……

  9. I currently own two Dell laptops (one I purchased in 2003 and a Vostro purchased last year), and the XPS sounds like a product worth learning more about.  Thank you for the introduction to this product.

  10. I am looking at new Laptop/Desktop. I have had Dell XPS products for the past 4 years. They have been extremely reliable and efficient. So I will definitely look at another one in the next few months.

  11. I could use a smaller laptop to help ke travel lighter…you haven’t
steered me wrong yet. Ill check it out!!

  12. I’m REALLY glad to see Dell (as well as the other manufacturers) get back into this space…  a lightweight laptop with adequate computing power!!!  My last Dell in this class was the Latitude D420.  In 2005, a 13-inch laptop with a pentium-class cpu, 4GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive AND a 4-hour battery was cutting edge… LOL!  It wasn’t Mac-like sexy, but it looked *really* good.

When Dell dropped the line and replaced it with the Netbook, I left the computing space of small-and-powerful laptops and moved over to the gaming-machine arena.  (Who ever thought netbooks were good for business users?)

Now that Dell is back, I plan to buy an Ultrabook in the near future…  (as soon as I recover from the back surgery caused by hauling a 200-pound Alienware machine around the globe!).  Afterwards, when I go through airport security, TSA will think I’m a stylish business traveller instead of an over-grown kid that plays too many games!

  13. I’ve been checking out the Dell XPS and really thinking about buying one.  Thanks for bringing your thoughts to my attention.

  14. I must say … I’m pleasantly surprised and intrigued. Looking forward to the series! In the market for a new laptop but want style and function. I use Mac Airbook for work – but not sure I’d invest in one for myself.

  15. I am with Patrick. I was a Dell user for years before switching to Mac. Based on Monica’s post I would like to think about switching back. Sometimes you need a PC that is sleek and sexy while at the same time functional.
