Midweek Lusty Must: Handbag

Yet another handbag and I don’t think I’ll even lose my love for handbags. They can make any outfit that much more chic, or spice up your basic tee and denim look….plus you can’t “outgrow” them no matter how much weight you gain (or lose)! I’ve spotted it by some fabulous fashion bloggers including Song of Style and others….so I know I’m in good company! This B Brian Atwood Grace bag is stellar ~ it goes from work to weekend!

Book Review: The Dinner

This book, The Dinner, was utterly disturbing but lead me down several divergent pathways. I started out by going to my family and a few close friends to ask a thought provoking question (in as neutral a tone as possible). The results were exactly as expected. But I stopped because I wanted to think and share what was most riveting about this book for me – and that was how we got to such a depraved ending. Four seemingly normal

Men’s Fall Footwear: The Black Bootie

Bootie may not sound macho but the boot is. We’ve gone with To Boot New York (again) but there are other options (a slightly more dapper, upscale pebbled leather version, or an old-school, dressier balmoral oxford brogue look). It’s for work, play, weekends, travel….if you’re a professional who chooses to keep it simple but wouldn’t mind adding a touch of polish to the mix once in a while. The black bootie plays nicely with suits and denim – Winning! To

Getting The Warm “Fuzzies”

It’s the time of year when you want to snuggle up in something warm or by a cozy fire on the weekend, and just be easy. Not every weekend allows for that but, one of the big trends we’re seeing is “fuzzy” outerwear fashion. I like it and can see it on a cold, dry late fall day with a pair of ecru/off white thin wale cords and a fitted sweatshirt. I’d be willing to try it. To keep from

Custom Blend Foundation

I love fall even though I quietly lament the passing of summer (long days, hot weather, sunny days, sand in between my toes, outdoor workouts that felt more strenuous since I sweated more, etc). So, it’s time to pull out some type of facial assistance that will allow me to retain my glow. The answer is Prescriptives custom blend foundation. I had mine done a little while ago and now I’m ready to use it ~ plus it has radiance

Men’s Fall Footwear: The Brown Boot

This is it. Wear it with denim or slacks. Take it on your weekend trip to Las Vegas or your business day trip to New York City. It goes from now into winter, and then into spring. Done. To Boot New York Brennan But if you need other options, try this washed suede desert boot or a similar leather brogue boot.

Scents & Styles of Fall 2013: The Details

In early summer, I hatched a scheme with a fellow entrepreneur and good friend, Wendy of Evolution Consulting Group, to create an intimate style affair. That’s all I had…. With a little prodding, a few brainstorming sessions fueled by a little ‘creative juice’, we came up with the who, what, when, where and even the why. The intimate style affair needed to focus on the ‘senses’ and fashion, of course. The event would be for my best clients and some

“High” Fashion

{original Pinterest photo removed} Today high fashion has many meanings and we’re finding high tops making a move back into the limelight. Converse never really left but, I love this look! It’s a self-deprecating yet fashionable take on ‘chic casual’. I’m inclined to try it except that I don’t own any high tops. Perhaps I should scoop a pair? I’m more inclined to substitute a pair of wedge sneakers….which totally takes away from the ‘comfortable casual‘ feel of it but

Best Bargain Shoes for Men

I’ve gone over it time and time again, and the end result is the same, To Boot New York, pound for pound, has some of the best contemporary shoes for men. Whew- I said it! Yes- there is always Ferragamo, Cole Haan, John Lobb but right now To Boot New York is killin’ it. The leather is quality. The styles are contemporary. The selection is varied but well curated. The lasting factor is there too. For fall, the best shoe

My Want List

My want list gets revised often and the latest rendition has me firmly in love with t-strap heels. They are all over the place so I’m not sure if I am in love with them because of the subliminal manipulation, or if it’s my own style ethos developing. Either way, they represent the perfect mix of vintage and modern-day styling that make them ideal for day to evening transition…..everywhere! The Schutz t-strap pictured is gorgeous but this one is my

Travel: 21C Museum Hotel, Bourbon & Buick

Buick called and I answered….the Buick Bucket List & Full Line Drive event! They called it Kentucky’s Southern Style – this drive took us through the up-and-coming city of Louisville. The tour included a visit to local glass gallery, Flame Run, where I got the chance to make my own glass ornament. Following the drive tour, it was lunch at Harvest Restaurant in the city, a restaurant that specializes in farm-to-table food with modern twists. After lunch, we visited Hounddog Press, a local

Blurry Leopard Print & The 3-Color Clutch

In life, we don’t get many opportunities to do what we love unfettered and with the aid of sponsorship. Thanks to Last Call Neiman Marcus, I got to go shopping….on their dime. They are in the middle of their “New Arrivals” event – basically lots of great pieces from Neiman Marcus but discounted up to 60% off! I scooped two pieces because, as I share with my clients, it’s about the right pieces, not lots of stuff. I’m continuously on

Midweek Want: Panelope Bootie

I’m not a bootie girl but I like this one….first, the camel color (it’s deceiving because it’s more grayish than camel- yay!), the height (it’s deceptively high), and the ankle closing (it fits!). Three reasons why I’d consider scooping this ~ it will work wonderfully with skirts!! Running to scoop this Steve Madden Panelope bootie at Nordstrom….btw, they run small so size at least 1/2 size!
