BIG Entrance: Bow Tie Heels
They’re fun. They’re fanciful. They’re statement-making. They have bow ties! They’re under $35!

He’s been designing shoes for over 20 years Originally from Puglia (Italy) – born in 1974 He’s responsible for creating Yves Saint Laurent’s The Cherry and The Tribute His shoe line has a strong graphic and architectural component to them MY style notes Adding a pair or two to your shoe wardrobe equals the implementation of elevated essentials They are more than the norm but not inordinate…if you consider $500-600 an investment I’ve had a chance to try them out
From time to time, I find things that I deem “a steal” either because there’s only a few left, the price is too good to be true, the item utility for the price is a winner, or it’s just something that will simplify my style and wardrobe. Unlike my earlier years (per my sister), going forward I’m going to try to “share” more…. [show_boutique_widget id=”290404″]
I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on my recent purchase – this Chloe rounded cuff bracelet. I’m in love with it and started out wearing it everyday – until I realized that I am not nearly as dainty as I thought. The clean designs picks up nicks quickly so you have to be careful. Until I can slow down on my ‘roughhousing’, I only wear it when I’m going out…but still equally in love with it. It’s no longer available
The way of monthly subscriptions is frequent, almost rampant but none, as of yet, promote “me” time until now. Monthly Express (or ME) creates carefully curated full-size product samplings for busy women with hectic lives. Treat yourself for $129/month and expect to receive such items as a sniff box from New Zealand for better sleep. While I think I’ll be sticking to a few weekend jaunts, the concept is spot-on….quality time for the busy woman!
Have you learned that not everything you wear has to “match”? Take this lesson to heart….plus it will save you soo much money! It popped into my inbox and I immediately started plotting how to add it to my current, ever-expanding clutch collection. – hand-embroidered polka dots (so girly) – silk-screened stripes (slightly upscale) – drop-in chain strap (tres versatile) – it’s tan, orange and….yes, navy! Just wait for me to post my outfit pic with this one….you may even
Grow up! We all love Havaianas but sometimes you just need a little more. Answer: Abejas Handmade. Leather (of course). Available in black and brown. Done! If these aren’t your cuppa tea then here are a few other grown-up options to try: [show_shopthepost_widget id=”825540″]
I love the color orange! And fuschia is pretty cool too! Since the weekends are made for running around the idea of doing it with a little extra color is right. These Saucony sneakers are cute and on sale (they also come in a yellow/teal combo too), and they may just allow me to dip-‘n-dodge a little quicker as I head to the grocery store, client shopping, and BBQing. What are your weekend plans?
I’m feeling these Greek-inspired bronze sandals. I don’t wear shorts but I rock short dresses and full skirts all summer…and these seem like the ideal substitute to flip flops to add polish, finish and chicness. Alaia ~ I’m in heaven….
My sister and father are ready to choke me but, I’m barely back three weeks from Dubai, Thailand and Vietnam, and already I am planning another getaway. I think the planning part is exciting but also a great way to escape the current soggy weather currently happening in DC… I was tooling around on another blog which happens to be one of my favorites, Le Catch, and I saw this bag (available at Henri Bendel). Immediately loved the colors and
This is clearly my favorite category because I’m a heels-girl but also because we’re talking about the shoes you sport to show your personality or to add that pep in your step. All bets are off here – the only danger is to steer clear of going headlong into summer (nights are still cool); and expect these to run a little more because you’re adding instant POW to your look. A few you could still rock to work but these
I do NOT approve of backpacks for adults…who want to be taken seriously in a professional environment. That said, there are some folks that simply cannot escape the quiet, tempting whispers of those back-contraptions! For you, try the Jetsetter Convertible Backpack – it’s what you get if your satchel and backpack had a baby….and let’s you keep some dignity in the boardroom while moving through the airport hands-free. BOOM!
You’re not quite sure how to usher in spring during the week so you err on the side of being conservative (and stick with your standard black pumps). NO! It’s spring and after the hard winter, it’s your right to get a little jiggy with it…without a full-on dorothy-and-wizard-of-oz moment. If you’re sticking with the standard pump then, at a minimum, upgrade yourself to a cognac/leather colored pump (with a coordinating handbag) to look like you tried. If you want
These Schutz drauzia heels are high but impossibly chic! If you’re looking for a shoe that can carry you to all of your After 5 affairs and dressier occasions this spring and summer, look no more… I’m in love with the styling, vamp, color and even the $200 price tag isn’t unreasonable.
I now wear them more than I ever imagined but, for others they are the go-to so let’s plan to step into spring stylishly with fab toes. For spring, focus on adding color or texture but avoid jumping into the “warm weather” pool with both feet because it’s spring, not summer. So no sandals, no lightweight fabrics, or flip flops. Great picks for transitioning to spring are… [show_boutique_widget id=”243155″]
This can be a tricky thing because the average “working girl” today uses one bag and that bag has to work as her tote and handbag….for the entire week. While I don’t advocate it, if you’re looking for dual functionality then a satchel is the way to go: enough to carry your essentials, a small clutch [that doubles as an after-work bag], an ipad, a magazine, and perhaps a shoe bag with flip flops. My second and equally as important
Yep – you can still sport your tall, flat boots (for another couple of weeks especially in the evenings) so let’s get it in before we have to put them away for the next six months. If you’re going to sport your tall, flat boots make sure the weather is cool (60s/70s), keep it mostly casual, and opt for the lighter cognac/whiskey/leather colors if possible. I’ll definitely try to get another wear or two out of mine {pictured above}. You’re
I spent 1/2 month (18 days to be exact) in southeast Asia between Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Saigon. I loved it and while not immediately, I’m going back because it’s warm, super inexpensive, laidback, and has good eating! I worked with Lands’ End before leaving to coordinate on a few essentials for the trip and I had a fairly long list. I found three items that I would have been hard-pressed to be without while there: Starfish slim leg pants
Admittedly wedge heels are not my favorite….mostly because they create extra weight near the ankle and thus, can look clunky. The keys to wedge heels are to ensure that if you have a peep toe, it’s not too large or your toes push through; and that the heel grips well. That said, they can give you a bit of height and offer more comfort for some. Consider also that it’s spring [not summer] so you don’t want to look like
I continuously tell my clients that your clothes treat you good when you treat them good — give your clothes a fighting chance to make you look good, and that can’t happen if they’re piled high on the floor. The same holds true for your baubles so when I saw these vintage enameled copper and bronze dishes, I feel in love They are perfect for holding change on your living room table, a stack of match boxes in your office,
The fables are long and some even funny but, here’s the truth about high heels and how they came about. Ladies – high heels were actually made for men, worn by men, and had to be wrested away from men by women! Lots of women hate high heels because they’re uncomfortable and for some, they think it’s a man’s way of keeping them down (or up…..!). Men think they are sexy sometimes but also don’t understand the female fascination…. I love
Yoox has one of the best selections of gloves and mittens for cold weather. In the face of #Juno, it seems timely to grab something to keep your digits warm….even if it’s just to dust off the car! I don’t have many but here are the digit-warmers I’m lusting after. The red Dsquared long gloves are my fave….. [show_boutique_widget id=”217092″]
We are thick into the middle of winter with no end in sight so that’s more rain, more snow, more sub-zero temperatures, and more bone-chilling winds. I don’t know about you but I”m done – I can think of plenty of places I’d rather be including Bora Bora Amalfi Coast Scottsdale, AZ St. John, V.I. In case you’ve forgotten what the sun looks like and what you’d need to be ready-to-rock, here are my sunny day go-to’s just in case
I’m determined to get better acquainted with my gifted Canon PowerShot G1X in 2015. It’s got an “auto” mode which is where I’ll start….. I’ve been hoping for a more sophisticated camera when I should have focused on what I had and been thankful for that. I needed a reminder and I got it as I was fishing around my creative space (aka office) doing purging, repurposing and organizing. Let’s see what I can make of it…and then maybe something
I can read of course, but the reading I want to do for 2015 will be more intentional I have my first five books already (see below) which are unfortunately left from this past year. I’m starting with…. 1) HRC by my good friend Amie Parnes ~ this could be Hilary’s year…. 2) Deluxe by Dana Thomas ~ a bit of a re-read but so essential to understanding the history of fashion and its houses 3) In My Shoes by
