By now, you know Pantone’s Color of the Year is Emerald Green but, here’s a look at all of the hot colors of the year….on the runways, in the stores, and sure to show up in your closet! Note: I’ve added just two hints of emerald green to my closet as it’s not my color ~ I’m sticking with navy, red and camel.
I’m not suggesting that men should walk around sporting bright red or emerald green on an everyday basis but, a hint or pop of color in a sea of navy can do wonders for morale! If someone “forced” your hand, which color would you add to your closet? I’d suggest samba or acai ~ both are rich, deep and lush but not too brash so as to offend your neutral senses….
Black is not only a basic but, “the” basic, right? It’s the go-to color for the majority of folks and frankly overutilized many times. Here’s the deal: If you’re going basic in color, make it pop another way If black is your go-to, opt for something that has black with a pattern If black is a must-have then try adding flair by mixing styles I like black….not a lot…not as much as navy blue or camel but I’m comfortable saying

Ever seen someone who takes “matching” to a whole new level? [e.g. ~ a brown suit and red shoes, red necklace, red ring, red belt, red purse, red lipstick, and red stockings]. This is someone who may have missed the beauty of hueing ~ using a gradation or variety of a color. Here are a few key points to remember so you can make color work for you: Spice up any neutral outfit with a zesty pair of heels If there’s a color you think you love, but doesn’t love you back, rock it using an accessory or below the waist to avoid immediate attention Use your nail polish and accessories to sport colors!
