Key Trends for Women in 2011

Here are the trends we’ve seen/heard/researched will be TOP in 2011:

  • 70s glamour ~ LOVE this but heard to do as an everyday look; try one or two pieces for going out
  • Biker clothing~ if you’re more classic in your style, use this trend to add edge…with a biker jacket
  • Punk fashion ~ (this trend can go….)
  • Colors ~ purple, grey, camel
  • 60s ladylike ~ think below-the-knee and hourglass styling; super feminine but a little unforgiving!
  • Sheer clothing~ this only works with layers….)I have a beautiful sheer cowl neck sweater that I wear with button downs)
  • Bell bottoms~ you really need to be tall or very thin to rock this right; for us everyday girls, go with a modified bootcut
  • Jumpsuits~ the key to make this chic and not cheap is the material and accouterments
  • Stripes ~ a great change-up from our funeral drab
  • Clogs ~ these can be very “granola” unless you opt for clogs with some type of embellishment or flat clogs in a neutral hue

Don’t feel pressured to run to the store or your local vintage shop to buy up these trends.  Instead focus on the two or three that fit with your lifestyle and current wardrobe, and then do a little tweaking and editing to accommodate some new pieces!

  1. Hmmm…I am kind of nervous about ditching the mad men look and heading into the 60’s and 70’s- baby dolls and crochet are not my thing and I don’t do polyester.

Any tips for us on ideas on incorporating accessories for the 70’s trend?

I am loving the color outlook- purple, camel, and grey- won’t have to look far in my wardrobe for pieces in those hues.

  2. Sandra- glad to hear about the color trends and your wardrobe preparedness!! As for the 70s accessories, it’s a lot of scarves. The rest of the 70s glamour is a focus on wide legged pants, pant suits, and taking those items and keeping them very fem!!

  3. I like reading your well written articles. I completely loved every little bit of this. I have you book-marked your blog to check out the latest material in the future.
