I have a few dresses by Emanuel Ungaro and I love them — I love them because they’re all simple with wonderful detailing and little extras, and are fabulously feminine without being to girly!
- Emanuel Ungaro was born in Aix-en-Provence, France to Italian parents in 1933
- As a young boy, Emanuel loved to sew!
- (The design world is so twisted) Emanuel went to Paris at 22 and started designing for House of Cristol Balenciaga (those lovely bags) by age 25
- Emanuel opened his own fashion house in 1965, at age 31
- He was doing his first pret-a-porter collection by 1968!!
- (Again the design world overlaps everywhere) In 1996, he formed a partnership with Salvatore Ferragamo
- In 1998, Ungaro‘s handbag and footwear launches were produced by none other than Ferragamo!
- Kinda strange: His dad’s name is Cosimo and his daughter’s name is Cosima…..(he must love his dad)
- And he’s straight!
- Coolness: he’s even done a collaboration with MAC!
