work saucy dress

I’m doing more business-focused work in 2017 but not soo business that I need to be in a suit. And I found this dress at Nordstrom — it says business (+ blazer) but also evening drinks with friends. BUT this dress isn’t for everyone ~ think of those with an hourglass shape or those who are comfortable enough to show a little shape. I got it love and have rocked it more than is appropriate…stay tuned for pictures on instagram!

Pantone 2017 Color of the Year – Greenery

Every year, Pantone comes out with its “Color of the Year” and for 2017 it’s Greenery! It’s bright but surprisingly versatile in its pairing. It can be toned down or brightened up with some great vibrants ~ and it’s pretty preppy too! As a tried-and-true navy/camel/red palette girl, I wasn’t sure this color would make a showing in my closet in 2017 but I think it can happen using this color palette… It has hints of my navy and camel!!

Re-building My T-shirt Collection

I’m continuing to build my t-shirt collection and I happened upon this cool one from Zara – it’s dark grey with super cool quilting on the sleeves! Don’t look too long because they’re going fast – and yes, I’ll be sporting mine during my upcoming private shopping event at Kit & Ace at The Shay. Fingers crossed that instead of my planned dressy skirt, I’ll be able to scoop the famous mulberry pants (I want the navy but perhaps a

A YSL-esque Blazer

Let me repeat for the record: J.Crew has fallen off a little bit BUT they still have some great pieces including this absolutely-perfect-classic-navy-blazer-for-every-occasion! It’s double-breasted. The juxaposition of the satin lapels and textured wool fabric make it not overly formal but super versatile! The fit is slightly tailored and, once on, you’ll be hard-pressed to find an occasion where it doesn’t work… My advice: don’t go without it! Yes…I scooped it too!

The Perfect Travel Shoe

In the month of November alone, no less than 12 of my clients have purchased (and then extolled) my recommendation for Rothy’s shoes. They are lightweight, flexible, environmentally-friendly {made with 3D knitting technology from old plastic bottles}, machine washable AND wick away moisture. What more could you possibly need from a travel shoe?! And if that wasn’t enough, they come a gently pointed toe for extra chicness or the most classic, rounded toe + the colors range from the red

And now as I get ready for holiday house guests, I’m finding this piece to work equally as well to transition from bed to morning coffee with family (+ some leggings too). That said, I am equally in love with this J.Crew grosgrain pajama set –

Curating a T-shirt Collection

I just did a massive dump of most of my tees because I realized they weren’t what I really wanted. I’m starting from scratch with a few winners including this one by J.Crew. It’s part of their destination art series and while there’s a Paris one (white without the tougher navy edging) and a London that’s grey, this is me. The New York t-shirt will make an excellent start to my new t-shirt collection…. I’ll continue to share my new

Ruffled Blouse

Tooling around one of my favorite websites to waste time, H&M, and I found this ruffled blouse…and I scooped it immediately! I wanted to wear it with my denim all fall but also thought it would look equally nice with a dark pleated midi skirt (see my Fall Essentials List!). Confirmation came when I saw it on one of my favorite style blogs, Le Catch….

How To Resist Impulse Buying

Do NOT be fooled, the secret is simple….but no one wants to share! Remember when your mom asked you to make a list of what you wanted for your birthday, or your sibling asked for your Holiday Wish List? The concept was simple: create a list that focused your lust!! A set of pre-determined [and hopefully well though out] items keeps the wandering eye in check. As a stylist, I create an Essentials Shopping List for each client because it

Fall Prep

I don’t even really want to talk about it but such is life….fall officially starts September 22nd so it seems fitting to share with you my four key pieces for fall (ehrrr hmmmm…read: items you’ll see continuously). Don’t get me wrong – I love fall for the foliage, layering opportunities, the cool autumn wind and, of course, football!! The key to these pieces pictured below are (1) ability to transition from warm weather and (2) adaptability across a variety of

The Benefits of Repetition in Dressing

It’s not a really big deal so don’t frown your nose at it…dressing using the same pieces can be a great thing! I know you secretly want to be “cali boho” one day and “ultra-fem, uptown sophisticate” the next but, for the average joe or jane, your wardrobe should consist, in large part, of similar items. As humans, we’re creatures of habit so once you find something that looks great (which is different from “….was available in multiple colors”) then

Dressing Hi-Lo

There is an art to dressing hi-lo….and you should start with the “hi” portion first. We took the Roksanda Rosalind slub wool-blend skirt and paired it with the $34 H&M striped camisole top to create a chic look that will go from work (with a blazer) to a yacht club party on the weekend! We also threw in two sale items: the Clare V clutch and Paul Andrew denim and leather slingback pump. BOOM! Sprinkle in your own flavor and

Ready for the Weekend: Bralette

Who wants to be “strapped in” tooling around the house on the weekend?! I’ve developed a new appreciation for the ‘bralette’ now that I’ve got a little more up top. I now keep my eyes open for a nice bralette so when I saw this saucy number by Hanky Panky on sale at Net-a-Porter, I snagged it. If it’s too much for you, I found an equally nice Mallory soft cup by Yummie Tummie! Either way, you can keep the
