Think You Can’t Afford Those $750 Shoes?

Christian Louboutin. Gianvito Rossi. Alejandro Ingelmo. Aquazurra. Charlotte Olympia. Saint Laurent. Jimmy Choo. Givenchy. Valentino. These are a few shoe designers whose shoes can cost a pretty penny (or even a mortgage payment). However, I think maybe you can afford them! Think about it this way….assuming you wear the shoes twice per week, here’s what those super haute heels will run you: = One year         = Three years         = Five years

Stylish Reading: In My Shoes

In My Shoes, Tamara Mellon Solid read… I have MUCH respect for Tamara Mellon especially given her humble and pedestrian beginnings as she built Jimmy Choo. She’s a powerhouse and that’s exactly what you’ll learn in this book. When she first visioned her line, she wanted to make it truncate the time between showing a line and having those pieces available and she tried… Although it may not have 100% worked out in her favor, she’s trying to change things

The History of High Heels

The fables are long and some even funny but, here’s the truth about high heels and how they came about. Ladies – high heels were actually made for men, worn by men, and had to be wrested away from men by women! Lots of women hate high heels because they’re uncomfortable and for some, they think it’s a man’s way of keeping them down (or up…..!). Men think they are sexy sometimes but also don’t understand the female fascination…. I love

I’m starting with…. 1) HRC by my good friend Amie Parnes ~ this could be Hilary’s year…. 2) Deluxe by Dana Thomas ~ a bit of a re-read but so essential to understanding the history of fashion and its houses 3) In My Shoes by

FYI….a Choo-In

This month Tamara Mellon of the 15-year-old Jimmy Choo launches Jimmy Choo Eau de Parfum ($95).  Tamara says this “sensual, seductive and mysterious” fragrance is very feminine.  It smells fruity/floral because of the orchid, patchouli and toffee notes.  It comes in a Murano glass topped with a black and silver cube….along with the hallmark rose color and python detailing on the packaging. (Saks) I’m excited…..

Choo + UGG = Chugg?!

Indeed this may be a case for divorce — the unlikely pairing of UGG Australia and Jimmy Choo.  Blueprint for Style has never been a fan of the muk-muk look that many flaunt mercilessly but we have always loved Jimmy but, what will come of this marriage?  Fur-lined stilettos?  Eveningwear UGGs?  Either way — it’s coming starting with five styles for a whopping, minimum price point of $800. Stay tuned because while divorce may not be an option, an annulment

New or Used?

I ask the question because on Saturday (November 14th), H&M debuts the new Jimmy Choo shoe line.  While the shoes range in price from $60 – $200 with the average around $150, is that right?  The normal Jimmy Choo can be wrangled for as low as $400-ish but can clearly go up to $1400+++. The question is easy: would you rather spend your money on new Jimmy Choos for H&M or purchase gently-worn resale Louboutins, Manolos and YSLs?  I realize there may be

Too Haute, Don’t Touch!

Let’s dream a little…this Jimmy Choo Prosper leather sandal is at Outnet.com for $350 and while the price isn’t bad, the 5-inch heel isn’t for the faint-of-heart plus summer’s just about over. It’s a red and black leather peep-toe sandal with a gold zip fastening at the back and (look close) a wood effect! HAUTENESS!.
