I was connected with the Washington School for Girls through Junior League of Washington and while I was unsure how I could help, I ended up teaching a fall course to nine young ladies in the 7th & 8th grade!
The importance of understanding how their personal appearance and how they view themselves affects how other see them is a point that I’m working to “make real” every week. From sessions on key interview tips to nail care to looking fabulous everyday, these ladies will be ready to take their personal brands on to high school or just ‘out and about’.
We have five more weeks left and looking forward to the final session where they’ll be doing vision boards!!
Thank you to Washington School for Girls for allowing me to share my expertise and enrich the lives of others…

How amazing! Young girls need so much mentorship at this time in their lives.
What an interesting project! I would think of it less as personal branding and more about teaching the rules of the world. But worthy work, however you frame it.
Katherine- I believe it’s rules of the world but we talk about how the little things like nails, being early to an interview, dressing appropriately, and what you put on your face affects how others see you. I continuously ask them “what do you want yor look to say to the world”
Helping instill young girls and women with a sense of confidence and self esteem is so important. Sometimes, even if you feel icky on the inside (not confident or whatnot), getting dressed up, looking your best, faking it til you make it, etc. will help you get opportunities and grow in confidence. You’re awesome for helping them see that!
