Men in White

Men in White

Men in white can look really hot or really goofy and awkward.  Follow these few simple rules to keep it looking right and tight!

Pants/Trousers

  • Pale colours can often be unforgiving, so if you're a little paranoid choose trousers with a flattering low-slung waist and straight-cut legs, a classic combo that will make the best of any shape
  • White is a great base colour for making your accessories stand out, so a timeless leather belt with metal buckle will anchor the look
  • For a quirky, summery twist, ditch sensible shoes in favour of a pair of snappy loafers worn without socks, for a flash of bare ankles
  • Slick tailoring is a must for a smart take on white, everything must be beautifully cut and well-fitting, since anything baggy or badly-made will stick out a mile
  • Rather than the usual greys, navy and charcoals, try wearing rich, earthy browns and taupes with your white separates, they make for a stylish yet conservative colour palette that suits most skin tones

Jacket/Blazer

  • A golden rule to remember is never to wear your white jacket with black trousers as you will look like a waiter. The possible exception to this is a white tuxedo jacket with black dress trousers, but if you want to go down that road it needs to be a legitimately formal occasion
  • Keep lapels narrow; small details are far more obvious on light coloured pieces, so save experimenting with unusual collars and pockets for another time
  • Team with cool, neutral shades in super-luxurious fabrics for a look that really exudes effortless elegance
