At this moment, the pound looks over the dollar like a boss with a cruel hand! Buying anything overseas especially England is just asking to pay more…except for those items native to the country!
One of those items is the designer brand, Burberry! Long established as THE trench to have and something that has been on my Lust List for years!!
Well, I recently went to London and while there, did some try-ons and got educated!
- First – if you’re going to be a Burberry trench (or anything Burberry for that matter), buy it in-country. Regardless of which one you get, it’s 1890 pounds – done and done! Stateside they will run you about $2600-2800
- Second – do homework so you know which is for you based on your body shape AND climate. I wanted fitted which meant the Chelsea or Kensington but given I’d wear it with a “jumper” (sweater to us folks in the States), that eliminated the Chelsea for me. But then [pictured] the Waterloo was perfect because it had raglna sleeves
- Next – decide what it will replace! In my case, I had 4/5 other coats that could be donated once this one came in-house!
Three fits to consider (all named after places in London):
- Chelsea – just below the knee and very fitted
- Kensington – just below tee knee with a little more ‘room to breathe and layer’
- Waterloo – longer but higher waist and raglan sleeves (the most room)
Where/ways to wear it:
- To work…
- For travel…
- On the weekends…
- For date night…
- To church…
- For big presentations…
- ANYWHERE!
Do some research and share your thoughts. Thinking of a Burberry, or maybe something else? What are you looking for and in what ways do you need to use it?
