When thinking of plaid, most people may imagine a private school uniform or a Scottish kilt. We assure you that is not the case for this upcoming fall when you shop for tartan pieces to wear the trend. This time around, runways including Carven, Rag & Bone, Burberry Prorsum, and Sonia Rykiel, went mad for tartan plaid and incorporated the pattern in various shapes, forms, silhouettes, and styles. Everything from dresses and skirts, jackets and capes, to handbags and shoes – the runways had us heavily covered in a super chic plaid blanket.
Tips:
- As with any busy pattern, keep the rest of the pieces in your look simple. Don’t be afraid to mix in some lace or leather though – just stay away from clashing patterns as plaid is already a loud one!
- Sure, a soft Burberry plaid scarf is classic and looks good with everything, but this season include some fresh takes on tartan in A-line dresses and skirts as well as sophisticated jackets and capes.
- If a plaid garment is a little too much for you or just not a pattern you want to wear on your body, opt for a tartan handbag, shoe, or hair accessory – still just as chic and on trend!
