Clearly not a trend for the fellas....but also not one for all of the ladies either. "Femme fatale" is a very body-conscious trend that will work best with those is more public spotlights, C-suite types {for less formal roles in advertising, marketing, etc}, and, of course, models!
What I love and hate about this trend:
- (+) It is feminine which means, at some level, it celebrates womanly curves
- (+) You're likely to see hemlines go up a tad
- (+) It will read very "edgy" so pieces with special embellishments like leather and lace will prevail
- (-) The form-fitting nature of the pieces will not be altogether friendly for those who are not in top shape
- (-) It's hard to dress this down, or make it work in a more relaxed fashion
- (-) Because the zest will be in the actual item, darker hues will likely prevail
Designer I exepct to fully embrace this trend are Christopher Kane, Vionnet, Roksanda Ilincic, Givenchy, and Lanvin.
Some pieces that will help you channel your inner-lioness include:
- Roksanda Ilincic silk blend dress ($540)
- Dorothy Perkins color block ponte dress ($49)
- Karen Millen colorblock pencil dress ($350)
- Sanctuary vegan leather shift dress ($159)
