True “Blue” Collaboration

Truth be told, I have been a longtime admirer of Lambertson Truex bags.  They are not overly flashy; they don’t scream ‘I have arrived’; and they have a timeless elegance that leaves you somewhat comforted given the price tag.  On the other hand, I own three pieces of Tiffany & Co jewelry – all given to me as gifts over 12 years ago.  Aside from the signature Return to Tiffany pieces, here again the jewelry is simple yet elegant.  So when Tiffany & Co acquired Lambertson Truex in May 2009, it seemed all good.

Well collaborations are the new hot thing and this one should be a hit!  In addition to a range of leather goods, Lambertson Truex delved deep into the Tiffany & Co design history to ensure the marriage of these iconic brands would be harmonious including the 44 handbags set to debut in September.  You can expect to see “bracelet and necklace designs…reincarnated as chain handles on evening bags…and the jeweler’s famed six-prong engagement-ring setting as the basis for a twist-lock clasp.

Look for inspiration from sixties and seventies, clean and elegant lines, and “bags lined in the instantly recognizable Tiffany robin’s-egg blue.”  That is where the past will end because everything about the bags is modern and will be pieces to pass down from daughter to granddaughter and on.  Lambertson said it best, “We don’t create disposable bags.

  1. I like LT just as much as the next person but I WON’T do Tiffany. It has become so mainstream not to mention that fact that the quality of the jewelery has greatly diminished over the past 20 years.

I’ll have to wait and see if this marriage stands the test of time!
