Travel: Road Trip Ready

This should be pretty easy right? Just grab a few items, toss them in a bag and roll out….kinda.

I recently went with the few a girlfriends for a quick weekend getaway to the fabulous Salamander Resort in Middleburg, VA. It was something we had been planning for quite a while and, frankly, needed.

The goal was a “momentary escape” from our current location that would offer a bit of exhale and relaxation – goal achieved! Collectively we posted some fab pictures of the venue and our eats (you can find them using hashtag #DCgirlgetawayVA) but every travel experience is an opportunity to learn great packing habits.

The Salamander Resort is smack in the middle of horse country and thus has an equestrian-theme everywhere (from our blankets with horsebits to the lobby pictures to the uniforms worn by the bellmen).

The fashion travel goal is simple, comfortable, chic, and warm.

Did I get it all? Just because comfortable is the goal doesn’t mean you can’t look pulled together and colorful – my red Tieks (nicknamed Caliente) worked great with a casual plain button up, and my favorite J Brand coated denim. No travel outfit is complete without a scarf – plain navy in this case.
