Stylish People

Speaking of Style and Inspiration….

Several years ago (2003 to be exact), the New Yorker‘s Michael Specter did a write-up on John Galliano.  Now, please remember that John Galliano who was born in Gibraltar (Dad was Gibraltarian and mom was Spanish) and raised in London is famous for womenswear pieces that push the limits of coverage and mainstream….he’s done collaborations with Vogue, Alexander McQueen (rest in peace…), Givenchy, Vanity Fair, Madonna, Christian Dior, and the list goes on a mile long.

Continue — I know many of us are wondering what’s next and what’s new and what’s haute and what’s not….and even what actually inspires designers when they put together their collections and runway shows (after all, we are in the heat of New York Fashion Week), well I wanted to provide you with John’s insights on his clothing and what inspires his designs

“My goal is really very simple: when a man looks at a woman wearing one of my dresses, I would like him basically to be saying to himself, ‘I have to fuck her.’…I just think every woman deserves to be desired. Is that really asking too much?”

And while the language may be terse, the essence should not be lost — what we don daily should be about a feeling that is evoked when wearing that certain piece whether new or old, fitted or loose, monochromatic or colorful.

Thanks John…I couldn’t have said it better myself!

  1. I couldn’t agree more with John’s sentiments. Truth be told that’s what most women really want to hear anyway. Come on ladies tell the truth!
