Rachel Zoe & Jason Wu: A Glance at Chic

Rachel Zoe

Even though she works with high-profie clients and has a remarkable sense of style, she does not have any formal fashion training ♥ She became the pioneer of the 'boho chic' look, embodying oversized jewelry, loose fitting dresses and shirts, paired with a slim frame ♥ For NYFW Fall 2011, Zoe officially showcased her first collection, which she intends on turning into a full lifestyle brand ♥ The contemporary collection was sneak-previewed to stores like Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom, and Intermix ♥ One of her best sellers is a black batwing top with columns of gold sequins, inspired by Zoe's favorite decade, the seventies ♥ In addition to sharply cut tuxedos and flared below-the-knee pantsuits, beautiful outerwear was presented - faux furs in vests and peacoats/parkas, and a chic toggle-closure cape

Jason Wu

Learning how to sew by designing and sewing for dolls at a young age of 9, Jason Wu decided to become a fashion designer after working for a toy company designing dolls ♥ He studied at the Parsons The New School for Design and interned with Narciso Rodriguez ♥ Wu launched his ready-to-wear line of clothes in 2006  ♥ Wu's pieces have always been clean and classic while still incorporating bright colors and prints without being flashy ♥ The results are modern, wearable, and consistently memorable and noteworthy ♥ Just like drama series Gossip Girl's character Blair Waldorf who adores anything with a French label on it, Wu's latest collection was inspired by the restoration of the Versailles ♥ Filled with exquisite details, the designer put a major emphasis on tailoring ♥ He opened the show with a charcoal gray coat flung over the shoulders of a cropped jacket, printed blouse, and cigarette pants ♥  Wu also made lace an essential component of his collection. By embroidering little bits of it onto blouses or A-line skirts, one could feel as if they belonged in a delicate art museum in Paris. For evening, he embellished a gold lace gown with thousands of metallic sequins and paillettes. ♥ The accessories are what finished his luxe looks, and are quite easy to replicate - metallic clutches and belts, patterned tights, a simple black ribbon to tie around the neck of your blouses, and of course, lace of all kinds! ♥ The entire essence of the show from the baroque prints to the lace accents, and the 24 karat gold foiled hair, I truly felt as if I was right inside the opulent palace!
