There is, indeed, an art to layering as witnessed by those who oft appear to look like the abominable Snowman unintentionally! The keys to layering include
- Plan to belt it or cinch it somewhere….
- Opt for multiple thin layers versus bulky
- Use denim as a layer to add edge but not heft!
- Balance the bulk: try leggings, wool socks, chunky booties if you’re going BIG on top
- Try color….it’s amazing how it doesn’t add weight
Refinery29 did a decent job of using these tips (and more) to show the art of layering. This example is my favorite: I’m always looking for ways to spruce up my camel coat, and the fur vest double easily as a fun extra for my outfit!
