I love, love, love Narciso Rodriguez …..he’s hot, humble, and talented! To be in-the-know, read about Narciso and learn why everyone wants to wear his wares:
- Narciso Rodriguez was born to Cuban-American parents in New Jersey on January 27, 1961
- As the eldest and only son, Narciso’s parents wanted him to be become a doctor, or lawyer…but he said “no” (thank God for rebellion!)
- He received a formal education from Parson New School for Design
- He started working with Anne Klein under Donna Karan, and then moved to Calvin Klein before launching his own label in 1997
- Muy interesante: he designed the now-famous wedding dress of friend and Calvin Klein co-worker, Caroline Bessette Kennedy
- Narciso was the design director of TSE in 1995 and was the design director for Cerruti in Paris
- He’s a winner: received the best new designer award at the Vogue VH1 fashion awards, and the Perry Ellis Award for best new designer by the CFDA….and won the womenswear designer of the year award in 2002 and 2003 (first designer in history to achieve this fete)
- (I fell in love with Loewe, the Spanish luxury house in the late 1990s) And Narciso was appointed design director in 1997
- By 2006, he was in debt….
- Liz Claiborne currently holds 50% interest in the Narciso Rodriguez label
- Famous moment: Michelle Obama sported a spring 2009 collection dress from his “stress relief” dress collection on November 4, 2008 which marked Obama’s first appearance as the president-elect of the United States
- Trademark style: modern, classic styling, elegant, feminine and clean

Okay, so where can we find his clothing?
What’s the price point?
Rnett – beyond sample sales (like the one that is happening now in NYC), Narciso’s clothing is fairly pricey as in thousands of dollars for his dresses, etc. They can be found in high-end stores like bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and the likes!!
