With their fall 2011 RTW collection, Gucci celebrated their 90th anniversary! A fashion house doesn’t stick around for almost a century unless they have something extraordinary going on like Gucci does. Gucci has become synonymous with Italian luxury and this collection was just that with deep jewel tones, fur and even python all over the runway. The 70’s were definitely present in this collection and the models with their feathered fedoras, clean tailoring and gorgeous color palette (loving the teal and deep purples!) resembled sexy detectives. Gucci’s evening wear was absolutely fabulous and bare-there at the same time–plunging necklines met very close with hip-high slits covered over by sheer fabrics. Translation: Gucci showed us that luxurious and sexy can go both ways…chic and covered up to barely-there and overtly sexy.
Runway to walkway translation: vibrant color contrast is very now ♦ 70s glam is present in 2011 ♦ sheer fabrics are hear (use them for evening, sexy looks) ♦ embellishments are in the fabrics and color ♦ pants and men’s tailoring is very womanly!
