Carol Lim: A Fashion “Two-fer”

Do you know Kenzo? They’re a 42-year-old label founded by Takada Kenzo in Japan in 1970. He quickly changed his focus to parfums and by 1987, launched Kenzo Parfums.  Kenzo is part of the LVMH empire and is now under the direction of Carol Lim along with co-creative director Humberto Leon.

Ever heard of Opening Ceremony? The international chain of “young & hip” mini-boutiques that showcase emerging talent and established designers. The stores are known for their offbeat collection and collaborations with the likes of Chloe Sevigny, Levi’s, Timberland, Keds, and Robert Clergerie to name a few. Well, Carol Lim founded it along with Leon.

As the co-creative director of Kenzo and co-founder of Opening Ceremony, you can imagine she spends a great deal of time moving to-and-fro and traveling. Here are a few tidbits in a recent Elle article (July 2012) she shared about keeping her life as uncomplicated as possible:

  • She doesn’t pare down her beauty regimen when she travels, so if it’s a big bottle, she’ll plan to check luggage just so she can take everything with her
  • She survives long-haul flights by getting weekly massages which help to boost circulation; and by applying the SK-II Facial Treatment Mask (a serum-soaked cloth) during overnight flights. And she packs tons of snacks!
  • Rather than packing lots of clothes, she packs accessories to change the look of her outfits day to day, and since she likes to bike and walk, she outfits have to accommodate that lifestyle as well

Just sharing a little fashion and beauty from a well-known fashionista…..
