My secondhand Chloe booties
A Boot Capsule Collection is your fall-to-winter style insurance policy: stylish, strategic, and ready for any professional scenario, be it puddles or power moves. And this boot capsule collection cuts the clutter and focuses on the only four boots you actually need.
These are the boots I recommend for every professional’s fall/winter weather lineup, even if you say you don’t like boots (you just haven’t met the right pair):
🖤 The Boot Capsule MVPs:
- Tall, Low-Heel Riding Boots:
Ideal for chilly commutes and polished but comfortable meetings. Opt for black or rich brown leather… classic, timeless, and pairable with everything from trousers to midi skirts. Try Jack Rogers stretch pointed toe or Vince Harlan knee high - Mid-Heel Booties:
A versatile workhorse that balances professionalism and edge. Choose almond-toe or block heel in suede or leather. Think Quince eco knit heel booties or Everlane’s Glove Boot! - Bad Weather Boots (Snow or Rain):
Because soggy socks kill the vibe and the momentum, invest in waterproof options like the Moon Boot – equal parts fashion and function! – or Sorel’s Joan of Arctic - Short, Pointed-Toe Low Heel Boots:
Your sleek under-desk-to-dinner option. Pair with cropped pants, midi dresses, or sharp tailoring (and not built to withstand too much mud slinging!). Think Stuart Weitzman suede ankle boots or & Other Stories kitten heel ankle boot. Throwing one more in the mix because they are perfection, the M.Gemi Delfina!
My Two Cents
- I’m a proponent of shorter shaft boots and booties because I find them a little more versatile, and they allow me to show off fun hoisery and socks too!
- For bad weather, I actually differentiate between snow/slush, and rain because the Hunter-esque boots are great for rain, but provide zero warmth for shoveling walkways
- Booties are excellent consignment purchases – because they’re already worn in (and will continue to be so), and their value is in the ‘ruggedness’ they add to a look, so waalah for footwear already worn in
- BTW – the Ugg boot at least in it’s original form, is NOT a boot!
Someone asked for my quick insights, so I’m sharing those with you in addition to the great global style insights above ⬆… carry on
We Didn’t Forget About the Fellas!
Your life is iiniherenty simpler, right? Your capsule boot collection should be comprised of two basic pairs:
- Bad Weather Boots: the Sorel Slabtown is a yes, please, and thank you!; and the refined ‘work boot’ that nods to the Wolverine, Warfield & Grand’s lace-up lug sole.
- Everyday Office Boots: here, you’re looking for less lug and more sleek, so we recommend a chukka-style like the Gordon Rush chukka boot, or the always classic chelsea style, which Bruno Magli does well
Why It Works
This Boot Capsule Collection saves space, sharpens your style, and ensures you’re prepared whether it’s a coffee date, C-suite meeting, or snowstorm.: fewer choices, better outcomes, lower morning stress.
