Ready for the Weekend: On the Fringe

I have a quiet penchant for things that sparkle and/or create “movement” and these fringe sandals lie squarely in that tendency! The weather has been lovely all week and April promises lots of reasons to rock sunscreen….perfect time to start rocking sandals! Maybe you can’t tell but they’re navy blue too! Perfection with any white, cream or tan outfit you’ve got planned…. And right now, they’re under $40 – WINNING! And, yes, I’m ready for the weekend!

Ready for the Weekend: Flats & Handbag

It’s the weeeeekend baby! And the perfect time to think about how to amp up your everyday style or, better yet, how to add some flavor into your standard denim look because you know it’s what you’re going to wear. Enter stage left: at first, I wasn’t loving M. Gemi’s Ora flat but the more I looked and played around, the more I started to love it. My favorite feature besides the gorgeous red color!!! is that they’re created using the sacchetto method (the leather is sewn into

Money Can Buy Happiness!

Whoever said ‘money can’t buy happiness’ obviously didn’t have enough of it and when I say “enough of it”, I’m talking $50 or so. When they came up with the phrase, I’m sure the main issue was ‘trying to keep up with the Joneses’. But if you reevaluate your definition of happiness and can just adjust your money scale, you’ll find that happiness can come on the cheap, relatively speaking! I’ve been going through a ‘blue period’ the last couple

Spice Up Your Health With Ginger

I’m a recent ginger convert….thanks in part to my girlfriend, Jodi, who puts it in any drink we have (I think she thinks I don’t notice….) and after reading all of the health benefits. One of my foci for 2016 is my health including eating a little better, getting some exercise in at least twice a week, and nixing a few bad habits from the repertoire. I added ginger in the form of these ginger honey crystals — it’s like

Post Jonas Coat Cover Up

Jonas was serious, right? I was holed up in my place for more than two days…excluding venturing into my backyard to get a few ingredients from my neighbor (I was trying to make turtle brownies and didn’t have enough eggs). In the meantime, it came to my attention that I might need to go “out out” and I didn’t have that awesome statement coat I needed. Jonas was an eye-opener and here are a few eye-openers to make an entrance

A Weekend Pouch

Is there ever an occasion when your weekend “bag” should be smaller, something in the pouch family? While I love my large/oversized weekend bags, I find there’s some freedom in just having the essentials. While Chiara Totire rocks a small chained pouch, I found an equally shiny bauble at Etienne Aigner. This shiny, metallic pouch has space enough to carry the essentials but still provide minimal style. Even Harper’s Bazaar featured it….

Your New Weekend Uniform

Guys don’t need much but, from the female perspective, an update on your weekend look is at “mission critical” status… Right now, we’re looking at sweatpants, college sweatshirts, old running sneakers, haggard tees, and yellowed undershirts — not to mention the underwhelming pleated khakis. The ladies of the world have united and asked for you to find some new weekend duds…..and here’s where we start! {note: every item is an additional 20% off using code “EXTRA20OFFSALE”}. Roadtrip Part 3: Headed to Duck, NC for #SoulRetreat

Duck, NC worked wonders! In spite of a 4 hour, 30 minute trip there (back was grueling since it started to snow……), I returned home relaxed and in a better #headspace. While I had originally planned to go as a way to rack up miles on the Toyota Highlander and do some work, it turned out to be the perfect opportunity to be open and receptive to what was to come and how to prepare for it. Add this to

Taking Stylish NOTES in 2016

I was sitting at a meeting a couple of weeks ago and one of my fellow JLWers sits down and slaps this gorgeous NOTES journal on the table. I politely waited until after the meeting to inquire (via email) and she responded that she had found it ‘out and about’. I set out to find it, secure it, and then….share the joy! Here’s the skinny: it’s by Eccolo Ltd (a family-owned business based in Brooklyn, NY) 8 x 10 inches

Roadtrip Part 2: To Road Trip or Not?

I was keen on road tripping because Toyota gave me a new 2016 Highlander Limited for my “Dress for Success” seminar in Burlington, NJ on Martin Luther King Jr Day….yes, I was called to work! The moms of Jack & Jill’s Burlington Willingboro, NJ Chapter were sponsoring an event for disadvantaged women in the area. Speakers shared insight on financial management, managing stress, exercise essentials and, of course, dressing for success. My cold early morning departure was made a little

Rockin’ A Camry For The Holidays

I was determined to keep this holiday season low-key and relaxed, and it was going to start with a leisurely drive to my sister and brother-in-law’s house in Connecticut. I planned to leave in mid-December (one of the benefits of being an entrepreneur!) and stop in New York City to do a touch of shopping and sightseeing. Accomplished! With the help of Toyota by lending me a late model 2016 Camry XSE, I rocked my way to New York City
