Building Color Blocks This Spring!

This spring is all about a color revival!  Taking inspiration from Rubik’s Cube, designers showcased strong hues of bubble-gum brights, rich jewel tones, and pretty pastels creating bold color blocking on  modish dresses, tunics, pants, bags, and even shoes. An instant way to amp your style, this vivacious trend is definitely an eye-catching one to make you stand out from afar.

The style can include monotone, bright, muted, and contrasting and complimentary colors. A few tips to keep in mind:

  • Choose what you want to color-block: for example, if you choose to color-block your clothing, keep your bag and shoes on a neutral palette to avoid looking like the inspiration of the Rubik’s cube!
  • Consider color-blocking based on your shape: if you are pear shaped and want to de-emphasize your lower half, opt for darker colors on the bottom half; for apple shapes, avoid horizontal blocks of colors around the stomach and highlight legs with blocks of bright colored tights. Hourglass figures should color-block around the waist to draw attention to this flattering area
  • Instead of sticking to the ordinary primary color trio, try saturated jewel-tones for a modern take on the trend

From budget to high-end, here are three colorful ways to instantly liven your wardrobe:

  1. Steal: Diane von Furstenberg Reara Two-Tone Dress
  2. Spend: Fendi Grosgrain Colorblock Sandal
  3. Splurge: Prada Cinghiale Color Flap Bag

  1. I must have the orange pencil skirt. My only concern is how well all of the colors will work on the pleasantly plus size ladies!?!?!?
